Before continuing with your booking request, we kindly ask that you take a moment to read this — it’s important. The Villa was our family home for over 15 years before we temporarily moved to New Zealand for our son’s schooling. It is not a purpose-built rental property — it’s a real home filled with the memories of a family who lived here fully.
Two acres of the property are restored fynbos and natural garden. Life thrives here. You’ll share the space with Kingsley our resident tortoise, a few rabbits, three cats who still consider the Villa their home, and the many birds, insects, and occasional spiders that come with a natural environment.
Inside, the house still reflects our family life. Our photos remain on the walls, and a few cupboards still hold our belongings for when we return. It’s a home where doors were left open, braais were frequent, and life was lived comfortably — which means you may notice the occasional mark of time, a wine stain, a cracked tile, or the famous rain spider visiting before a storm.
Our local team prepares and cleans the Villa thoroughly for every stay, but this will never be a sterile, hotel-style environment — and we wouldn’t want it to be. If you are looking for a pristine, minimalist space sealed off from nature, this probably isn’t the right place for you.
But if you love authentic homes, natural surroundings, braais under the stars, birds in the morning, and the relaxed rhythm of Mossel Bay life, then we think you’ll feel very at home here.

This is a real, well-loved family home — not a showroom or hotel. Our life happens here. On Friday nights, we eat pizza and drink wine on the couch (sometimes gravity wins). Fiona spends her days tending the veggie garden and battling the forest’s enthusiasm for ginger and jasmine. Ryan is a lifelong builder and fixer, so you may notice the occasional half-finished project. Finn trains hard on the volleyball court and sometimes returns with half the beach’s sand still attached.
We also share the house with two cats and a very affectionate black Labrador. With that love comes fur — which we manage as best we can, though it occasionally reappears. And because we live beside a forest, you might encounter a curious wētā, spider, or gecko, all of whom are gently escorted back outside.
We thoroughly clean the house before every stay, but this will never be a sterile, hotel-style space — it’s a living home surrounded by nature.
If you’re looking for a pristine, magazine-perfect environment sealed off from pets, projects, and the occasional insect, this probably isn’t the right place for you.
But if you enjoy relaxed homes, forest surroundings, swimming in the pool, soaking in the spa, watching a movie on the big screen, and settling into the rhythm of North Shore life, then you may have found exactly the right place.

This property was originally designed as accommodation for students learning underwater photography and videography while diving the nearby Aliwal Shoal. Because of that, the house is intentionally simple, spacious, and practical rather than luxurious.
The bedrooms are set up with single beds, the furniture is durable and functional, and the floors are fully tiled. This design makes it easy to clean up the inevitable sand, saltwater, wetsuits, and dive gear that tend to accompany life near one of South Africa’s best dive sites.
When our students are not in residence, we enjoy sharing the house with HomeExchange and Airbnb guests — particularly relaxed families, surfers, divers, and groups of friends looking to spend time on the beautiful KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.
The house is regularly cleaned and well-maintained, but it is not designed as a boutique holiday villa. It is a practical beach house built for ocean life. If you’re looking for luxury furnishings, hotel-style décor, or a perfectly curated interior, this may not be the right fit.
But if you’re planning days in the surf, dives on Aliwal Shoal, beach walks, braais, and relaxed evenings with friends after a long day in the ocean, then you’ll likely find the house perfect for exactly that.

This apartment forms part of The Residence on Boundary, a well-run shared accommodation property designed primarily for students and young professionals. The apartment itself is completely private, with its own entrance, and includes a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, living room, and balcony overlooking the swimming pool. The living room also has a fold-out sofa suitable for children.
While the apartment is separate from the main residence and nicely furnished and serviced, it does sit within a larger residential environment where long-term residents live, study, and go about their daily routines.
Guests should therefore expect a comfortable, practical stay within an active residential property rather than a standalone hotel or secluded guesthouse. If you are looking for a fully isolated holiday property, this may not be the right fit.
However, if you’re happy staying in a private apartment within a well-managed residential setting — with a comfortable space to relax, cook, and enjoy the poolside balcony — then you may find it a great base while visiting Johannesburg.
